WSID - JAMBOREE 2011
Event Report
WSID Jamboree 2011 attracted about 10-12 thousand people over the weekend and was covered by various TV including speedweek and foxsports along with just about every compact performance car magazine.
It was a great weekend and once again was dominated by gas motorsport (in competition and Trade display) having the prime position and biggest display featuring over 9 vehicles and a transporter, 7 of which were top calibre drag cars all competing on the day and built by GAS and all sporting motul signage.
Flags and banners were up all over the GAS camp which was a big focus for TV and magazine media being the biggest single display and team of competitors.
Some of the gas cars competing were:
Toyota Celica Pro Turbo
BMW Pro Turbo
Toyota Supra Street 289 class New Car First Race Meeting
Honda CRX Turbo Modified Compact
Mazda R100 Modified 10.5
Mazda 20B RX3 Modified 10.5
The GAS celica had crowds on their feet all day running a string of 6 second passes with the first being a blistering 6.48ET dangerously close to breaking a world record, crowds were silenced every time the vehicle surfaced only to break out clapping after every pass as it was the only vehicle on the day running consistent passes deep into the sixes.
The GAS R100 was also dangerously fast all day getting runner up in mod 10.5 class.
The newly unveiled toyota supra running in street 289 class also had crowds on their feet running a 7.84ET on its first meet ever - this attracted heeeeeeaaaaaaaaaps of attention as its practically a street registerable car reaching mind blowing speeds.
